Paupers studio has for the past 10 years co-ordinated the Artists International Print Project at studios in Venice, Italy and St. Avit, France.

Venice, Italy

The Artists International Print Project, Venice, initiated in the summer of 2002, is a collaboration between Michael Taylor & Simon Marsh of the Paupers Press & the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice.

The project invites artists to work within the scuola's printmaking studios in the Cannareggio area at the heart of Venice. Using the monoprint as a starting point, artists are encouraged and supported to explore and develop potential new avenues for their work within the culture, history and artifacts of one of the centres of the Italian Rennaissance.

St. Avit Senieur, France

From the 25th-29th July 2011 we held our first Summer School at the Atelier Paupers studio in the small medieval village of St. Avit Senieur in the picturesque Dordogne region of France.

The week long course uses techniques such as carborundum, photo-etching, chine colle, collage, monoprint & multiple plate printing to explore how the various languages of print can generate new ideas. The studio is based in the heart of the village, in the village forge, with the C12th abbey and its cloisters directly opposite.

The course will be initially structured so as to introduce the techniques of print, but will also encourage experimentation & improvisation around ideas developed whilst on the course.

There is plenty of accommodation within the village and in the surrounding area, to suit all budgets, family requirements and facilities.

The basic cost of the course is £250. including all course materials, excluding flights and accommodation. The nearest airport is Bergerac, with daily flights by Ryanair & Flybe. Lists of suitable accommodation can be supplied if required.
